Meet the team
Helen the owner
Dogs have always played a major part of my life and I have been a professional dog groomer for over 30 years. I gained my professional dog grooming qualifications and so my career developed. I was given, in 1998 the opportunity to buy the business. I haven't looked back since!
I am well established in the industry and have had the privilege of being asked to demonstrate my skills at prestigious training seminars for both the grooming and pet care professions. I have also been lucky enough to have had the opportunity to compete in dog grooming competitions where upon I won awards for my grooming skills. This is something I feel very proud of.
I have in depth knowledge and understanding of canine behaviour and have owned and trained a number of dogs my current dog being a beagle called Bentley. I think he is possibly the laziest dog I know until there is food around. You will find him most days with me at the salon probably asleep somewhere unless he sniffs out a biscuit. He makes me smile everyday just by being him.
I have always wanted to work with animals and after leaving school I went on to study at Norton Radstock College for 2 years obtaining my level 2 BTEC diploma in animal care and also a level 2 work based diploma.
In 2011 I was offered an apprenticeship here at Millionhairs to become a dog groomer. I achieved my level 3 in work based animal care and dog grooming and this is where my story at Millionhairs began.
I love my job and I am a competent groomer. I especially love scissoring skills and seeing the transformation of dogs in the salon is so rewarding. The dog's love showing off their new styles.
My own companion is Charlie my black lab who adores getting dirty! He is full of beans and always ready to give you a warm welcome in our salon.
Growing up I have always had a passion for dogs and jumped at the chance of work experience in a dog salon when I left school. I was then offered weekend work at the salon and knew this was the job for me.
As time went by I had a family so I had to leave grooming for a while to become a full time mum. When I was offered a position at Millionhairs I jumped at the chance to resume a career in grooming.
I am training with a Helen to obtain my qualifications. I love my job, learning new skills every day and seeing all the different dogs with such different personalities come through the door makes the day even better.
I am a very proud owner of a German Shepherd called Maximus. He is my big, soppy bundle of joy. I especially love the big dogs having been around them whilst growing up.
I feel very privileged to be working with all of your beautiful dogs. A job I am so passionate about I really can't imagine doing anything else.
I started working for Millionhairs as a cleaner when I was 15 years old. I used to love seeing all the dogs come in to be groomed at the salon. I was given the opportunity to help out on Saturday's and school holidays. It was brilliant! I love giving the dogs a bath especially the really dirty ones. Seeing them come in filthy and getting them so clean is amazing.
I am now studying at University in Liverpool, but I return to Millionhairs whenever I can during the holidays to help out. I know a lot of the clients so well now and miss them when I am away, I always love coming back for cuddles.
My own family dog is a parsons terrier called Dougie . He really is my world. He is so full of fun I can't help but laugh at his antics . I feel so lucky to have dogs in my life the love they give is unconditional.
